RYA Combined Day Skipper Courses Barcelona and Gibraltar Course Review

Dear Susie (RYA Day Skipper Combined Student August 2013) Thanks for reaching out. I have to say, last week was one of the best times I have ever had aboard a yacht. Not only was the learning great, which added significantly to my handling of a cruising craft, but the four of us students became fast friends and already have follow on plans to meet again in London this fall. I think Graham/Natalie/Anna are all planning to come back for Day Skipper next year and I may join them for a refresher. Plans pending, of course. Sabina was great. Different style than what I had with Charlie last year, but I learned a lot from her. She had a quiet confidence that kept us on course and we all agreed that we enjoyed working with her. Money well spent from my point of view. If you are ever in Barcelona to check on things here, let me know and we can get that beer. My office is literally at Port Vell. Or, as I mentioned, I wouldn't mind crewing on a boat here and there over a weekend if you need an extra hand. Willing to pay my way and want to keep my experience as fresh as possible. All the best to your family from our family - Joshua Leewarner Port Vell Barcelona

Fast Track Yachtmaster Success! Well done to Paul and to Peter who have both spent the last 15 weeks mastering the skills to sail a yacht offshore by day and night. Both today passed their RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Exams. A great achievement and now have all the qualifications required to work commercially on vessels up to 200 gross tons. From all the Blue Oyster Team in Gibraltar and Barcelona best wishes a job well done!!

Paul sent the following 'Thanks for great coaching, 12 months of work and still so much more to learn. Everyday there's a new challenge. I am knackered but happy. See you later for a beer'.
